Wellington round the bays
Race day

What time and from where can I register on the day?

Late entries can be made at Frank Kitts Park 7.30am until 9.00am. Late entry fees will apply as follows:

Half marathon run - $45
Adult - $20
Child (under 16) - $15
Infant (under 5) - FREE
Family (2 adults, 2 children (under 16)) - $55

What do I do with my shoe tag?
Your shoe tag must be tied into your laces according to the instruction leaflet within your race pack. You must have the shoe tag in place before you cross the starting line and keep it on until you have crossed the finish line. After the finish, hand it to the officials collecting them before collecting your Bonita banana and H2Go water.

NB. Participants who do not return their shoe tag will incur a $25 fee.

Can we take our children in a buggy?
Yes buggies are allowed, however we ask that you start at the back of the field.
Caffe L'affare will have a marquee offering free coffee at the finish for all buggy walkers.  Make sure you pay them a visit.

Can my child complete the race on a bike, scooter or roller blades?
No, none of the above are allowed for safety reasons. Dogs are also not allowed.

What can I do with my gear?
You are able to leave any gear you do not wish to carry with us for free. Turn up at the vans beside Frank Kitts Park on the Harbour side and we will place your gear in a bag with your race number written on it as identification. We will have this transported to Kilbirnie Park in order for you to collect at the end. If you wish to have any valuables transported to the end it is at your own risk; Sport Wellington will take no responsibility for misplaced items. We advise the use of a 'bum bag' for items such as keys, mobile phones and wallets. Gear will be ready for collection from approximately 10.30am.

What time does the race start?
8.30am half-marathon runners' and walkers' race starts on Jervois Quay.
9.20am runners' race starts on Jervois Quay.
9.30am walkers' race starts on Jervois Quay.

NB. You must cross the start and finish line in order to record an accurate time.

What will happen if it is raining?
You will wear a coat. The Pelorus Trust Wellington Round the Bays & New Balance Half Marathon will be going ahead rain, hail or shine so we suggest that as we live in Windy Wellington, known for its atrocious weather, you check the forecast before you leave and take the appropriate gear for the conditions.

Is there entertainment at Kilbirnie Park after the event?
Yes there is - don't miss the fantastic line up!

What time is Prize Giving?
Approximately 11.30am is when prize giving will commence, with presentation of major spot prizes and merit prizes.

NB. All prize winners must be present at the spot prize draw on the day to win. Any prizes not claimed will be re-drawn.

Where can I meet my friends and family after the event?
The finish is at Kilbirnie Park which is a reasonably large area and there will be people everywhere! We suggest you arrange a spot to meet your family and friends afterwards. If you end up losing someone, head over to Information and we can have a message sent out over the loud speakers.

Are we allowed to bring along a barbeque or have a picnic?
You sure can! Feel free to bring your barby and cook up a storm. We have a designated area for people who wish to do this (a common thing for schools and clubs to do), however, space will be limited this year so it is a 'first in first served' situation. We do not allow you to bring a vehicle onto Kilbirnie Park, you will need to drop your gear off nearby and park your car on Kemp St. You can also bring a picnic and sit down with family and/or friends for a bite to eat while enjoying the post-event entertainment on the main stage.

Major and Minor Spot Prizes - how do we know if we have won something?
There are a variety of prize categories.

  • Business Team winner
  • New Balance spot prizes
  • Race number spot prizes

When you finish the event, check the spot prize boards located around Kilbirnie Park. You will need your race number to claim a prize from the tent on the day.

NB. All prize winners must be present at the spot prize draw on the day to win.  Any prizes not claimed will be re-drawn.

Will we be able to purchase anything from Kilbirnie Park?
Yes you will. An assorted array of food and beverages will be available for purchase. Merchandise will also be available to purchase. 2010 Pelorus Trust Wellington Round the Bays and New Balance half marathon t-shirts will be at the park.

Are we going to have our photograph taken?
Supersport Images are our official race day photographers. They will have photographers located on the course to capture as many participants as possible. Participants will be sent an email with a direct link to any photographs that include you. Visit www.supersportimages.com to order your photos. Ensure race numbers are visible for ease of identification.
