Half Marathon
The New Balance Half Marathon (21km) is returning for its second year to cater for those who need an extra challenge and something to motivate them throughout the summer. 2010 sees the addition of the Half Marathon walk option alongside the popular Half Marathon run and wheelchair race that was introduced in 2009.
Start Location:
The Half Marathon event will start in the south-bound lanes of Jervois Quay. (adjacent to
Finish Location:
Kilbirnie Park. After finishing please move swiftly through the finish area, ensuring you remove your shoe tag before receiving your Banana and water.
Start Time:
The start time for the Half Marathon is 8.30am (for both walkers and runners)
Course Info:
The Half Marathon will follow the same course as the 7km event around Oriental and Evans Bays. The course will turn left off Evans Bay Road onto Cobham Drive, then left onto Shelly Bay Road and then follow on to Massey Road. Competitors will turn north of Point Gordon (approx. 700m north of Scorching Bay), race back along Massey Road, Shelly Bay Road and Cobham Drive, turn left into Evans Bay Parade, finishing at Kilbirnie Park, a total of 21km.
Dress Smart Water stations will be located at the start of Cobham Drive, Burnham Wharf and Massey Memorial car park to help keep you going.
Road Closures: Full Road closures will NOT be in place.
- Cobham Drive from Evans Bay Parade to Troy Street will be closed until 11.30am at the latest.
- Troy Street roundabout to Shelly Bay Road will remain open.
- Shelly Bay Road and Massey Road to Point Gordon will be closed from 8.45am until 12pm at the latest.

Participants: Must be over 16 years of age. Open to Walkers, Runners and Wheelchair racers.
This course has been certified and measured by Athletics Wellington.
